Rickey Ginn, 74, of Greenville, entered his heavenly home on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021. He was born on May 20, 1947, to Harrison Enoch and Eloise Gowder Ginn, in Butler, Ga. and moved to Madison County as a child. He graduated from Greenville High School and attended technical classes at NFJC. He later moved to Tallahassee where he began his life-long career as a cable splicer/installer and data technician with the telephone company. He moved back to Madison County after several years and made his home in Greenville. After more than 40 years of service, he retired from Embarq Telephone Company (Now known as CenturyLink).
Rickey was a member and deacon of Greenville Baptist Church and until his health began to fail him, he was active on many committees such as Maintenance and Grounds and Sound Technician for the church services. He could be counted on to work as needed in the church. He was also a Mason and was a member of Lodge No. 28 of Greenville.
Rickey was an outdoorsman and loved to work in his garden, fish and hunt. He was best known for his love of hunting, especially deer and turkey. During hunting season, you could always find him in the woods. He was a member of Tools Hammock Hunting Club where he formed many close friendships.
Rickey was preceded in death by his parents and his seven siblings. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Frances; and his three children: Matt (Michelle) Ginn, of Greenville; Lori (Joel) Collins, of Madison; and Lisa (Anthony) Newman, of Mayo, Fla.; 10 grandchildren: Brandon Segrest; Anna, Luke and Dallan Collins; Ty, Tori, Natalee and Nate Newman; and Mason and Logan Ginn; a special niece: Vickie(Clayte) McWilliams, of Madison; one sister-in-law: Madeline Ginn, of Madison; one brother-in-law: Troy Meadows, of Moultrie, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, in Greenville.
There was not a formal visitation, but the family gathered to celebrate Rickey’s life on Monday, Nov.1, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Ginn home located at 5391 NW Honey Lake Road, in Greenville.
