Rita Thomas Ogburn was born Sept. 22, 1953 in Lake City, Fla., to her parents, Wilmer Jene Thomas and Ernie Reath Davis Thomas. She was raised in Lake City, Fla. but spent most of her life in Live Oak, Fla. She was a very honest and hard worker and spent more than 20 years as a cook for Captain Cooks. She was a tender-hearted person who worked long hard hours to provide for her family of six children, often taking in others to give them help with a place to live, a shelter from their storms and rides to work so that others could survive and provide for their families. She also took in and helped raise children and those less fortunate until they could get established. She believed in helping others even to the detriment of herself at times. Rita cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends. To Rita, a stranger was a friend you haven’t met yet, she believed in telling you just like it was. Rita was a true blessing to know and love and will be greatly missed dearly by all that have come to know her presence.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ernie Reath Davis Thomas and her father, Wilmer Jene Thomas; her five siblings: Rebecca Cruz, Johnny Thomas, Ricky Thomas, Jerry Thomas and Tony Thomas; her husband, John Franklin Ogburn; her child, Johnny Olen Ogburn and two great-grandchildren, Justin Underwood and Connor Greene.
She is survived by her daughters: Danielle Ogburn, Ashley Ramser, Kim Anderson, Belinda Waugh and little Rita Nicole Ogburn; her son, Clint Ogburn; her grandchildren: Dallas, John Michael, Houston, Shelby, Jodi, Cody, Josh, Taylor, Joshua, Jeremiah, Johnny and Elijah; great-grandchildren: Bentley, John Michael Jr., Lucas, Braxton, Avarie, Olivia, Jensen, Brantley, Remmington, Bobby, Isabella, Nebula, Syren and Damian and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
