The Madison Police Department (MPD) has been helping keep the summer heat at bay for local children by rewarding them with popsicles if they find and bring painted rocks to the department. According to MPD Lieutenant Heather Whitfield, the practice started with just one rock, which was painted gold and featured a police cruiser. Now, any painted rock that is found and brought in to the department will be rewarded with an ice-cold popsicle. The MPD office is located at 310 SW Rutledge St.
