Ronnie Deryl Blanton, 70, passed away on July 26, 2022, in Tallahassee, Fla. Ronnie was born March 26, 1952, in Madison, Fla. to Willie Eugene Blanton and Thelma Pate Blanton.
Ronnie honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a member of Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Ronnie worked briefly with United Insurance in Tallahassee and then continued his career with Johnson and Johnson Fuel Transport, in Madison, where he retired after 30 plus years of employment. Ronnie was a true fisherman and loved fishing and spending time on the Aucilla River.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; Willie Eugene and Thelma Pate Blanton, his siblings: Emory Blanton, Harold Blanton, Lamar Blanton, Mariston Blanton, Aubrey Blanton, Vernon Blanton, and Launa Tuten.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 52 years, June Blanton; his children: Sherri (Connie) Green, Renee (Jamie) Groover, and Ronnie 'Buddy' Blanton; his sisters; Irma King of Thomasville, Ga. and Murle Ratliff of Greenville, Fla. and brother-in-law; Tommy Tuten; his grandchildren: Alexis, Brandon, Kaylee, Logan, Makayla, Kadence, and Kelsee; great grandchildren; Keegan and Weston; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life was held on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Gary Blanton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice Margaret Dozier House. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
