On Thursday evening, Oct. 19, the Madison Rotary Club held their annual Prime Rib Dinner fundraising event. According to local Rotarian Dale Stone, approximately 360 people were served during the event. This is the largest single fundraiser the club undertakes each year. It was estimated that the club raised approximately $4,000 with the event. Before serving the dinners consisting of prime rib, baked potato, salad, bread, dessert and a drink; approximately 360 pounds of prime rib were roasted to near perfection by Rotarians Pete Bucher and Rick Davis.
Each year, the local Rotary Club raises $8,000 to $10,000 that help support 8 to 10 different charities in and around Madison County. Included in this is Mobility 1st that provides wheelchair ramps for low income residents who have a physical disability. The Rotary Club pays for the building materials and provides manpower for the construction of many of these ramps and stairways.
The Madison Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon in the Villa Maria social hall of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, located at 301 NW Orange Ave., in Madison.
