During the meeting of the Madison Rotary Club on Wednesday, May 31, the Rotarians heard a presentation from Alice Smith and Julie Pries about the efforts to renovate Four Freedoms Park, in downtown Madison. Smith, a Florida Master Gardner and Pries are both volunteers with the Madison Garden Club.
The Madison Garden Club, along with Billie Margraves, of Muddydog, LLC, have taken the lead in working to upgrade and improve the landscape of the popular Madison park. Called the “Four Freedoms Renovation Project,” their goal is to “create a central community hub that reflects the historical values and vitality of the people of Madison County.” In order to accomplish this, a list of needed improvements was developed, including: pruning shrubbery, replacing diseased plants, repairing the irrigation system, cleaning and repairing monuments in the park and more. Some of these items have been accomplished, while others are in process. The projects are divided into phases that extend until the fall of 2023 and beyond. Volunteers and monetary donations are welcome. To donate, please send checks payable to:
