On Tuesday, Nov. 16, the Senior Citizens Council of Madison County celebrated an important milestone. It has been 50 years since the center opened its doors to serve the elderly members of Madison County. During those 50 years, hundreds of local seniors have benefitted from free meals, activities, health programs and many other valuable services. The Council celebrated with a barbeque luncheon catered by 3:11 Barbeque at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Funding for the services of the Madison Senior Citizens Council come from various grants. Funding also comes from the Madison County Board of County Commissioners and the Madison City Commission, along with several local service organizations, such as the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. The Senior Citizens Council also benefits from the generosity of individual donors.
