Sharon Kay Patterson Cressley passed away in Valdosta, Ga. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022. She was born on Nov. 27, 1945. Her parents were James Patterson and Marcetta (Rita) Nellis Bradley. Sharon had lived in Madison County for 32 years coming here from South Florida. Although she had lived most of her life in the city, she loved being in the country. She loved singing gospel music and riding over the farm in the golf cart checking on everything. She was employed as a tax preparer in the North Florida area. She was a loving wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Patterson. Sharon is survived by her husband, James Cressley; two sons, John Hughes and his wife, Pam and Michael Hughes and wife, Emily, all of Madisonville, Tenn.; two daughters, Renee Horton, of Madison, Fla., and Joyce Taylor, of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Roger Davis and John Davis; 10 grandchildren: Brandy, Whitney, Karon, Travis, Maxwell, Timmy, Sabrina, Tyler, Tommy and Misty; and 12 great-grandchildren: Jovia, Arya, Hannah, Jada, Kiera, Isabella, Iris, Arianna, Mayson, Calvin, Sasha and Benjamin. A celebration of life was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Beulah Baptist Church in Lee, Fla.
