Shop Talk of Madison is a group dedicated to bringing the men of the community together while challenging each other to be better fathers, friends and neighbors and spending time with one another.
The group, which began back in April, hopes to expand and connect people. The monthly meetings that are held every fourth Wednesday can provide both an outlet for men who are struggling and need the advice of others or just a good time to hang out and meet new people - and the best part is, everyone from all walks of life are welcome.
“It doesn't matter what you look like or how much money you've got,” said Jeff Brewer, one of the founders of this group.
Brewer and his friend, Brody Herring, wanted to bring positivity to the community after seeing so much negativity within the world. “There's not a lot of places where people can go to talk,” said Brewer. “There's so much negativity in the world and the only way to fight it is with hope and love.”
Brewer hopes that Shop Talk of Madison will break racial tensions that have been surrounding the world and really get the community connected.
If you are interested in joining Shop Talk of Madison, check out the group on Facebook. You may also come to any monthly meeting, which is held every fourth Wednesday of the month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 1101 NE Almond Ave., in Madison.
