On Monday, May 23, the sixth annual B.F. Killingsworth Gator Golf Classic was held at the Madison Golf and Country Club, presented by the Madison County Gator Club.
In appreciation and respect for B.F. Killingsworth, who was the driving force of the Madison County Gator Club Scholarship Fund for more than 13 years, this event is held every year so that his dream may continue.
The Gator Club has raised more than $40,000 in scholarship funds for students to attend the University of Florida. There have been more than 30 graduates of UF that have been students from Madison County who received Gator Club scholarships. This year, the Gator Club raised $6,400.
Golf enthusiasts came from near and far to attend this annual tournament, with a total of 76 golfers in attendance. Two tournaments were held at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and in between these times, those who attended enjoy a lunch that consisted of pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, chips and dessert.
During the tournament, there were door prizes. The hole-in-one was sponsored by Walt Live Oak Ford, where individuals could get a chance to win a 2016 Ford Fiesta, iPad and other prizes.
The Madison County Gator Club would like to thank all of the sponsors for the tournament: Ben Killingsworth, Johnson and Johnson, Auto Repair and Service, Dale and Carol Gibson, Nestle Waters, Madison County Community Bank, Walt's Live Oak Ford, Darabi and Associates, Inc., Jacksonville Boys, Rudy and Ann Marrow Hamrick, Madison Dental Associates, Madison Vet Clinic, Supervisor of Elections Tommy Hardee, Madison County Tax Collector Lisa Tuten, Clerk of Court Tim Sanders, Judge Browning and Madison County Property Appraiser Leigh Barfield.
