Mr. Steve T. Tuten, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, in Monticello, Fla. He was born in Madison County on April 21, 1932. His parents were Alex Tuten and Alvesta Bass Tuten.
Following his retirement in 1992 after 38 years with Florida Power Company in St. Petersburg, he returned to live in Madison County. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church, Madison Masonic Lodge # 11 and Scottish Rite – Tampa. He was also a member of the Florida Power Pioneers Retirees Club. Being an outdoorsman, he loved gardening and propagating plants, and was a beekeeper for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Rebecca King (Wilson), of Beech Mountain, N.C.; two sons, Steven Tuten, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Paul Tuten, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; three stepdaughters: Linda Odom, of Pascagoula, Miss., Joy Thompson, of Spring Hill, Fla. and Jennifer Taylor (Cecil), of Macomb, Miss.; one stepson, Art Yale (Kathy), of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Clyde Tuten (Virginia), of Perry, Fla.; one sister, Barbara Ann Roberts, of Madison, Fla., one granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Royce Tuten and Doug Tuten, and one sister, Betty Sue Buchanan.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Beggs Funeral Home, 235 NW Orange Ave., Madison, Fla., followed by a graveside service at San Pedro Cemetery in Madison County, Fla.
