Madison Correctional Institute (MCI) Correctional Officer Johnny Stevens was recently named Legacy Employee of the Year for 2022. Stevens has enjoyed a 34-year career with MCI, and has garnered over 40 letters of recommendation for jobs well done. Over the years, Stevens has been tasked with numerous building and remodeling projects throughout the county. Also, Stevens has worked with a hurricane disaster project in Punta Gorda, Fla. for three weeks, and he has been a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for 23 years. This team is responsible for providing education for disaster preparedness and disaster response skills.
Some of Stevens' numerous accomplishments include building the Ray Charles house, in Greenville, remodeling the Madison County Courthouse, Lee City Hall and the Supervisor of Elections office. He also built the entire Emergency Medical Services building. Stevens was honored to receive this prestigious award and has enjoyed improving the community throughout the past decades of employment with MCI.
Stevens is married to Madison County Memorial Hospital CEO Tammy Stevens. The couple enjoys spending time with their three daughters: Sierra, Chelsea and Whitney as well as their two granddaughters: Kesley and Jordyn.
