Storytelling has been alive and well in Madison. The Madison County Florida Storytelling folks have already brought us three successful storytelling events here in Madison. Each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, hundreds of listeners have come from all over the region and beyond to then be transported away to other times and other lands through the power of story.
Madison County Florida Storytelling was pleased and honored to bring three wonderful days of storytelling to our county recently. On Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19, nationally recognized storyteller Pat Nease told stories at four area schools. Students and teachers were thrilled with her exciting, interactive delivery that kept all of them listening with eagerness and laughter. On Saturday, May 20, Nease conducted two workshops at the Madison County Library, one for younger children and one for adults. Attendees were very pleased with the sessions and left ready to further craft their own stories.
Nease has been a teller the last two years at Madison County Florida’s Storytelling’s event, called Tellabration!, held at O’Toole’s Herb Farm, and she has been impressed with the children who tell their own stories there. Pat wanted to do something special for Madison County, and so she gave her time and talents to area residents in those two workshops.
Nease has been teaching the art of telling a good story for many years and has received numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award for storytelling by the Florida Storytelling Association. She has become a favorite of the Tellabration! events; and hopefully, she will be able to join the event once again this year.
