On Monday, Jan. 2, students and parents from the Madison County High School (MCHS) School Advisory Council got together for a work day to help clean up the grounds at MCHS. In addition to raking, weeding, and trimming hedges, both students and parents worked together to plant flowers and plants in pots in order to
beautify the school's entrance. One of the day's organizers, Christi Annett, said they wanted to help make the school look a little better. She also said this is a good way for students to get community service credits.
Many of the students who showed up to work are members of the MCHS varsity baseball team. Brian Annett, who helps with the baseball team, said it was not unusual for the baseball team to come out and help clean up the grounds of the school. “They [the baseball team] work every other Thursday on the grounds of the baseball field to help clean up,” said Brian. “They are a great group of kids who take pride in their school and their team. That's what we try to teach them, to be positive male role models.”
