The Madison County Community Awareness Committee (CAC) will host its annual Summer Blast event on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Sumpter James Park, in Madison. The event is open to all school-age children and their parents, and is free of charge. There will be water games, a bounce house, and complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the children of Madison County as they prepare to go back to school. Representatives from Saint Leo University will be on-site to discuss their Bachelor and Master Degree programs. Madison Central School will also be there to discuss the upcoming school year with children and parents.
CAC was founded four years ago. Their mission statement is "Changing people's lives through heartfelt service and commitment.” Their organization seeks to serve all citizens of Madison County, regardless of race, creed, color, religion or national origin. They strive to be a proactive partner within the county to enhance justice and the quality of life conditions in the community. Their mission is met through public advocacy, planning, programs, educational materials and other means to ensure social and economic justice for all.
According to President Eddie Ealy, “We recognize that addressing community challenges is most effective when public and private organizations join forces. We collaborate with leading nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, and leaders in the community to tackle immediate concerns and to develop longer-term solutions.”
