New Home Baptist Church's summer mission trip (June 25 – July1) was to Cleveland, Tn. They partnered with Ocoee Outreach of the Crossnet Baptist Network in Cleveland. Twenty-eight people from the New Home, consisting of two carpentry/construction teams, made the trip.
The average household income in East Cleveland is less than $13,000 per year; 56 percent of adults have not completed high school, and three out of every four homes do not have a male head of the household.
“Many of the homes are impoverished, and construction provides a way for us to show and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the homeowner,” said New Home’s pastor, Chris Roth.
“The majority of those from New Home who went on this trip had never done missions work before; however, everyone did a fantastic job. Our summer missionaries got out of their comfort zones, worked hard, and shared and showed the love of Christ to the people of southeastern Tennessee. This was an awesome trip, and we are already looking forward to going again next summer!” said Pastor Roth.
