Suzanne “Susie” Rogers Pomar, born on July 8, 1962 in Jacksonville, Fl., passed away at her home in Lee, Fl. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 at the age of 54. Aunt Boo, as she was affectionately known by many loved ones and friends, had a fun loving personality and was always up for an adventure, whether it be hiking up steep hills near Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco or having margaritas in Ensenada, Mexico. She loved telling stories and was well known for her colorful tales and unique jokes and expressions.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Pomar (1955-2009) and was the third born daughter of Lavis Robert Rogers (1918-1998) and Annie Philben Merritt (1927-2001). Pomar is survived by her two sisters, Carolyn West of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. and Mavis Hightower of Jacksonville, Fl. Susie was never able to have children and considered many of her nieces and nephews as her own. Among them are: Tonyah Dawn Bellinger of Jacksonville, Fl., Arron Shannon Hightower of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Joshua Carl Hightower of Jacksonville, Fl. as well as Bryan Mette, Lonnie Mette, Victor Mette, Shawn West and Leeia Day.
A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Lee, Fl., on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.
