Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) has been a participant in Relay For Life of Madison for many years and this year is not any different, as 49 members of AKA will all be supporting Relay For Life.
In conjunction with the Dr. Seuss-based theme for this year's Relay For Life event, the team members chose to theme their team around the Dr. Seuss' book Green Eggs and Ham. They will have a booth open at the event on Friday, April 29 and will be selling hot dogs, drinks and chips for everyone to enjoy.
In order to raise money for Relay For Life, AKA has been collecting change in a piggy bank at each Relay For Life of Madison meeting at North Florida Community College and also designated a donation out of their own budget.
“[Supporting Relay For Life is important because] we are raising funds to help support the American Cancer Society,” said team leader Emily Dickey. “I am hoping that a cure will be found during my life time. We are supporting everyone who is fighting cancer. We have many sorority sisters who have family members who have fought cancer.”
