A Madison County teenager was involved in a car accident that caused serious injuries early Monday morning, Feb. 12.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Erin Jarvis, 17, of Madison was traveling eastbound on Little Cat Rd. at approximately 7:40 a.m., when her vehicle traveled in a southeasterly direction off the roadway, onto the unpaved shoulder. The rear of Jarvis' 2008 Toyota Rav4 began rotating in a clockwise direction, traveling southeast, and the driver side of her vehicle collided with a tree. Jarvis' Rav4 then spun off the tree and came to a final rest, facing northeast.
Jarvis was to be transported by air to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH), but due to inclement weather, she was transported by ground to TMH, where she is being treated for her injuries. Jarvis was cited for failure to use due care. FHP was assisted by Madison Fire Rescue.
Jarvis suffered fractures to both of her femurs along with bruised ribs. She underwent a successful surgery on Monday, Feb. 12. The Jarvis family would like to thank the community for all the prayers and support, especially for the healing process that is still to come.
Jarvis is currently a high school senior at James Madison Preparatory High School and served as the 2017 Miss Madison County. Jarvis is the daughter of David “Buck” and Soneyda Jarvis.
