The Drip Experience held its Grand Opening on Friday, Nov. 4. Owner, Angenette Aikens, was surrounded by family, friends, local business owners and the community during the debut. Members of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce were there to welcome her to Madison County as well.
Aikens, a native of Madison, is a graduate of Madison County High School (MCHS) and North Florida Community College. She chose to further her education at Valdosta State University. After graduating, Aikens came back to teach science at MCHS for four years. One day, she picked up a paintbrush and decided she liked the serenity painting brings. So, with teaching in her nature, she started a painting business.
Aikens originally started a luxury tent sleepover company, out of Valdosta, that offered parties for kids and adults for special occasions. While doing sleepover parties, COVID-19 forced sales to a halt. The company had to think of a strategy to increase sales to keep the company afloat. Aikens shifted her focus from hosting parties to selling canvases with pre-painted images, allowing individuals and families the ability to paint from the safety and comfort of their own homes. By doing this, Aikens got sales back on track, while also following social distancing and preventive guidelines.
Aikens mentioned that when she would come to Madison to visit family and friends, there was nothing to do and residents of Madison would have to travel 30 minutes to an hour away just to find something fun to do. She decided to bring The Drip Experience to Madison to give the community something to do that didn’t require traveling to another town; a creative day or night out for any age. Aikens even offers mobile parties to those unable to travel.
The Drip Experience is perfect for all ages because one doesn’t have to be skilled or take professional classes, to take home a one-of-a-kind painting. The Drip Experience not only offers painting classes but offers their building to be rented out for sit-down events such as bridal showers, baby showers, birthday events and much more. Aikens is working to bring other arts and crafts activities for the whole family to the company in the future.
The Drip Experience is open by reservation or scheduled paint parties. If you would like to attend a painting event, tickets can be purchased online at www.thedripexperience.com/events.
