School is inching closer and closer, so my family has really been taking in the time that we have left to spend together. Part of that comes with meals, which my Granny Latner and the rest of my family come together to provide at our monthly get-togethers. Eating at Granny’s is an all-time favorite of mine, but who wouldn’t love having a nice, home-cooked meal while getting to spend time with family?
My mom and I had a conversation the other day about this very topic, and this idea for my column actually came from her. She talked about how I lit up every time at the mention of going to Granny’s that upcoming Sunday. Since I’ve been in college, I’ve really started to take into account the limited amount of time that I have with them before I have to move back. I encourage all of you to keep close to the ones you love and enjoy the time you have with them, whether you are moving away soon or not. Being back and forth between Madison and Pensacola has really opened my eyes on the subject of family, and ensuring that I spend quality time with them whenever I can. Even if you are not close with your blood relatives, those who you call your family or loved ones fit the bill with this lesson. Enjoy whatever time you have with the people you have. It will be worth it in the end.
