Today is Sunday, April 16, while I am writing this week’s column, and this one is going to be one for the books.
I just witnessed three of my teammates get baptized during my church’s “Baptism Sunday” and let me tell you, that was one of the proudest moments I’ve ever had as a friend and sister in Christ. A large portion of my team, including my coaches, were there to watch our girls publicly hand their lives over to God, and every single one of us were in tears. Watching someone actively feel the spirit of God as you have felt it so many times before is indescribable. Knowing their journey and growth the last year leading up to this moment makes it even sweeter. I am blessed to have a team that loves God as much as I do, and to watch them grow as I am in our relationship with Him.
That being said, not everyone has this large group of Christ-loving friends to turn to for guidance, and that is okay. Even having just one friend can help lead the way back to the straight and narrow path when times get dark. Find these people in your life. Actively seek them out. It makes it so much easier to not only stay accounted for, but to see how God is working through not only your life but theirs as well. You are not alone in the struggles with being a faithful follower. You are not alone with the struggles of worldly temptation. There are other true believers out there, and it will benefit yourself and your journey to seek out these people and keep them close. It will also bring you days like I have had, where you get to watch their rebirth and cry out in joy for their courage and passion regarding our faith.
Surround yourselves with people who actively love Christ, who don’t even have to tell people their faith because it is shown in their daily lives. I am blessed to have such amazing brothers and sisters in Christ both in Pensacola and back in Madison. I pray that you all will surround yourselves with the same type of love and faithfulness in the company that you keep.
