The Women's College World Series is currently happening, which is my favorite time of the year. Watching the drive of the players from each team who have made it to this point in the postseason is something that is truly enjoyed by myself, along with several other viewers across the nation. They are unwilling to let their season end after making it this far. The players do not want their seniors to end their softball career without a national title under their belt. The raw passion demonstrated by every player of every team in this tournament is something that we should strive to recreate in our everyday lives.
Montana Fouts is Alabama's ace pitcher, and has been for the last three years. She was recently hurt in one of the regional games, but has continued to rehab the injury and spend time in the circle to continue to help her team. It is also her senior year, so she is doing all she can to ensure her season does not end without a long run in postseason. Being as this tournament is televised all over the country, there are several camera angles and shots that show the viewers the players both far away and up close, which also shows their celebrations after big plays. Fout's strikeouts always end with a fired up phrase such as “let's go” and a hug for the catcher. This fire is vital for success in sports, but it can also be utilized in jobs, school, etc.
While we probably shouldn't be screaming “Let's go” after having a successful class, job, etc., we can still have passion for the things that we do in life. Simply going through each day without much drive, motivation and passion for being able to live another day creates a melancholy life with a mediocre tone that will eventually cause depression, anxiety, and other predicaments. Having a passion for the little things in life goes hand in hand with finding the positives even in the dimmest of situations. Look at the glass as half full. Wake up each day and find a passion for at least one thing, whether that is work, a specific class, or the ability to have social interactions. Having this passion-filled mindset and attitude will greatly influence those around you to follow suit, and create a welcoming, hard-working persona for yourself. Be passionate even if there is no reason to be. It will pay off in the long run.
