All of the self-development, growth techniques and tactics that I have written about in my columns are strategies and lessons that I insert into my own life. Since I started my journey of growth, I have learned to talk more about my emotions and about my life in general, which can also be thanks to my job as a reporter, where I had to learn to talk to anyone and everyone regarding the various stories that I am writing. Anyway, I have now been characterized as a talker, especially with my family and my students. Being as I am now more of a communicator and can put my thoughts into spoken words rather than just written words, I have entertained the idea of starting a podcast.
My head softball coach at UWF has been after me to start or feature on a podcast, as she listens to those regularly and wants to hear my thoughts out loud, as it took me a long time to open up to her. That being said, I have also been dabbling in various podcasts and fantasizing about having my own one day, where I talk about the things that I write in my column but in more detail. I have also been thinking about what I would name this show, as it must be something clever. Of course, my indecisiveness has not allowed me to pick one, but my current favorite is simply “Sweet Tea.” I believe it ties in my southern roots with the modernized term “tea” having more of a meaning than just the drink. Tea, for my older readers, also means gossip (although it would not be negative gossip, of course) or stories from everyday life.
I doubt that I actually begin a podcast in the near future, or that I name it Sweet Tea. However, understanding the amount of progress that I have made (and I am sure you all have as well) in terms of my self-growth and social development has made me proud of myself. Knowing that I have the ability to do something like a podcast, and be successful while also helping others, is a wonderful thought. Who knows, maybe it will turn into reality one day. In the meantime, take a second to pat yourselves on the back for the progress you have made in recent months. You are doing great!
