It's that time of year again, where the community can join together to enjoy The Madison Passion Play, presented by Madison Church of God, located at 771 NE Colin Kelly Hwy, in Madison. The Madison Passion Play is based on the passion of Christ and the crucifixion, as it tells the story of Jesus in the garden and works through the crucifixion and the resurrection.
Many of Madison County's local residents, both in and out of the church, participate in the play each year. The play is often improved upon each year to keep returning patrons interested. The Madison Passion Play Director Amber Justus excitedly shares she has rewritten the opening of the play. “We are putting an emphasis on how Jesus came for the sinners not saints,” states Justus. She also alluded that they will be bringing back a scene that hasn't been performed in two years, but was always a favorite. Justus was also pleased to announce the play will be offered to nursing homes through private screenings. “We have a very large cast this year with many new faces,” said Justus. “We all work together as a team; I couldn't do it without my directing team and we couldn't do it without each supporting cast member,” she continued.
The Madison Passion Play show times are as follows:
⁃ Saturday, April 9 at 6 p.m.
⁃ Sunday, April 10 at 6 p.m.
⁃ Friday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m.
