Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Sunday, Feb. 15, deputies of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received information that fugitive Troy Derek Mendheim, Jr., 28, was residing at a residence located at 11255 South CR 53 in Madison and was currently at that location. Deputies were very familiar with the address from numerous unsuccessful attempts to locate and arrest Mendheim.
Deputies set up surveillance and positively identified Mendheim exit a vehicle driven by December Leigh Webb, 25, of Madison, and witnessed Mendheim and Webb enter the residence. Surveillance was maintained ensuring Mendheim did not leave the residence while waiting for other deputies to respond to secure all avenues of escape. Once perimeter deputies were in place, contact was made with Webb. Deputies informed Webb that they observed Mendheim enter the residence with her and knew that he was still inside. Webb told deputies that Mendheim was not in the residence and denied knowing his location. Deputies again informed Webb that they observed Mendheim enter the residence with her and she could also face charges for obstruction and aiding a fugitive. Webb continued to deny that Mendheim was inside her residence.
With confirmed knowledge that Mendheim was inside the residence, deputies entered the residence and began searching for him. Mendheim was located a short time later hiding inside a small cabinet. Mendheim initially complied with deputies but quickly began to actively resist arrest with violence. After being cuffed and placed inside a patrol vehicle, Mendheim began kicking the window frame causing minor damage to the patrol vehicle. Webb was also placed under arrest for her attempts to hinder the lawful arrest of Mendheim.
Mendheim was charged with resisting arrest with violence, criminal mischief and two warrants. Webb was arrested for aiding a fugitive and obstruction.
