Madison County is the only place that a monument has been erected to give recognition to slavery. The late Mr. Howard wanted to show that slavery was wrong. As a white Christian, he wondered how Christians allowed this ungodly cruelty to happen to humans in a nation founded on Christianity. To be a Christian is to be Christ like in spirit. Mr. Waring wanted to show his Christian love and ask forgiveness. On Wednesday, May 20, at Four Freedoms Park on the corner of Range and Marion at 5 p.m. a wreath will be placed on the historical monument in remembrance of unsung heroes and Mr. Waring. All citizens, Christian and relatives of unsung heroes are invited to this ceremony.
