Vertle Waters Brinson, 96, a hair stylist and owner of Vertle’s Beauty Shop in Madison, Fl. until her retirement in 1974, died Jan. 3. Vertle was born on July 28, 1919 in Appling County, Ga. to the late Robert Waters and Bertie Smith Waters. She was a member of Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Madison County Memorial Hospital and Audrey Newman Circle at the First United Methodist Church of Madison, Fl. where she was a member since 1961.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Madison, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors are her children: Linda Brinson O’Brian (Pat) of Madison, Rosemary Brinson Haire (Morris) of Madison, Jeannie Brinson Baker (John) of Starke and John Thomas “Tommy” Brinson, III of Madison. Grandchildren: Pat O’Brian (Betti), Chris O’Brian, Alex O’Brian, John Haire, Carol Haire Beggs (Ted), Molly Addison White (Michael), Laurel Baker, Danielle Baker, Traci Brinson Harvey and Lindsey Brinson Walker (Davey). 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Thomas “J.T.” Brinson, Jr. and her sisters Lucille Hawthorne and Winifred Simmons.
