The annual walk for A Women's Pregnancy Center is this weekend, Saturday, April 11. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk will start at 9 a.m. Participants will meet at the Madison courthouse and the walk will proceed to Lake Frances, circle the lake, and come back to the courthouse where it will end. This walk is one of the center's biggest fundraisers of the year. Walkers often gain sponsors to raise money and some simply come to walk in support. Persons who raise $150 or more will win a free t-shirt. However, t-shirts will be available for anyone to purchase at the event. All are invited to participate. A Women's Pregnancy Center offers a vast array of information for expecting parents, as well as counseling which can be received at any time during a pregnancy. The center offers education on the realities of The Morning After Pill; RU-486, the abortion pill; surgical abortion and STI's. They offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, referrals for adoption, housing and medical care. At 20 weeks, parenting classes are offered that help prepare the future parent or parents how to take care of a new baby. Expecting parents are equipped with free baby clothes, maternity clothes, diapers, supplies, furniture and, when available, pre-natal vitamins and care. If one opts to attend at least five parenting classes, they are given a baby shower in a bag. The kit includes necessities such as shampoo, lotion, diapers, wipes, cotton balls and a thermometer. A Women's Pregnancy Center is operated by volunteers who have a huge heart for the people of Madison County and would not be able to function without donations. Make sure you come out and support the center while gaining a little fresh air and exercise! It will be worth your while! For more information, contact A Women's Pregnancy Center at (850) 973-6970.
