Mr. Walter Wyche Jarvis, 75, passed away on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, in Greenville, Fla. surrounded by his loving family. Walter was born on Oct. 27, 1946, in Madison, to Dee Wyche Jarvis and Margrett Ethelene Sadler Jarvis. Walter lived his entire life in the same area except for the two years he served in the military, and loved living in the country. Walter accepted the Lord in his teens and rededicated his life to the Lord in his early sixties. Walter dedicated his life to serving others especially on Mission trips to Haiti to put roofs on churches, and he was always ready to build wheelchair ramps for people who needed them.
Walter honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Walter was a Christian and was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, of Pinetta, for 22 years until illness took over. He loved the Lord, he loved his work and he loved his family. Walter worked as a maintenance worker with the Madison County School Board for 22 years. He was also a contractor for forty years.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Dee Wyche Jarvis and Margrett Ethelene Sadler; and a brother in-love, Henry Cason.
Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paula (Pauldee); his sons: David Lee, Soneyda, and Thomas Dee, Kristi; and grandchildren: Elainie Marie Dunbar (Jacob); David Walter (D.W.) Jarvis and Jamie; Erin Jarvis (Tucker) Jordan Jarvis; Ty Jarvis; and Bella Jarvis; one great-grandson, Holton (Little Man) Dunbar; one sister, Bessie Cason; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Cemetery, with Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021 at Burns Funeral Home, of Madison. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home, of Madison.
