A 1944 Ford sedan belonging to Fred Morris was stolen in front of the Stroud Hotel some time Monday night. Local officers located the car Tuesday morning near the Seaboard depot where it had been abandoned. No trace of the culprit was found. A 1948 Chevrolet from Valdosta was wrecked badly here at the railroad crossing Saturday morning about 3:30 a.m. when the driver failed to make the curve. Men and one woman were in the car. The man and woman on the front seat were hurt and were rushed to the hospital in Madison for first aid. The Boosters Club will hold its annual gridiron banquet Thursday night, Feb. 26 a movie of the 1952 Florida-Miami football game will be shown.

Mrs. C B Dawson is in the local hospital under treatment for injuries received in a traffic accident seven miles south of Madison on Farm to Market Road No. 360, about 9 o’clock Wednesday night. Mrs. Robert Jenkins was honored with a Stork Shower Thursday night February 11th at the Cherry Lake H. D. club room with 24 guests. Five white boys, ages 11 to 14, were arrested Tuesday night by Sheriff Moore in connection with the recent wave of breaking-ins in the city. Two were caught in the act of trying to break into Edwin Hadden’s store and they implicated the other three. Carl Johnson driving a 1954 Chevrolet pick-up truck four miles north of Lee Monday night struck a cow in the road and damaged his truck to the extent of about $175. Johnson escaped injury. Trooper Broxson made the investigation.

Ronnie Wells, pre-school age son of Mr. and Mrs. W E Wells, was seriously burned Tuesday and is a patient in Little-Griffin hospital. Mrs Wells had left the little boy in the car parked in front of Dr. R E Watson’s office while she was having dental work done. Hearing the little boy’s screams, she rushed out to find his clothing on fire, he having found a box of matches in the car. His burns are said to be have been of 2nd and 3rd degree. Mayo boys defeated Madison boys 57 to 52 in basketball Tuesday night in Mayo. Ben Henry Hosper accounted for 26 points for the winners, while Billy Bunker rang up 17 points for Madison.
