US Senator John F. Kennedy, Democrat, was elected President of the United States in one of the closest contests in years, defeating Vice-President Richard M. Nixon, Republican, with a popular vote majority, however, was much larger in proportion, since he carried most of the larger states.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Raines of Madison announce the birth of a baby boy on Nov. 7. He weighed 7 lb and 15 oz.
Dr. Marshall W. Hamilton, president of North Florida Junior College, was elected president of the North Florida Association of Junior Colleges, at a meeting of the Association at Bradenton the past weekend.

Madison Primary School Principal Frank Galbraith accepted the American Cancer Society's Courage Award on behalf of his brother Dave Wednesday. Dave Gailbraith, a Madison County High School football and softball coach, lost his battle with cancer last month after a valiant never-say quit fight.
