Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Jackson announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Blanche Marie, to Sgt. Kurtis Glen Sevor, of Kessler Field, Miss., son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Sevor. The wedding will be an event of early summer.

The Girls Circle of the Presbyterian Church of Madison met Monday night with Teenie Moore for the last meeting of the church year. Officers elected were: president, Jule Bevan; vice-president, Marilyn Cole; secretary, Teenie Moore, reporter, Nencie Bevan.
Refreshments of cokes and beverages were served during the social hour.

After getting to the finals in the Jennings Semi-Pro invitational basketball tournament, Madison lost to Luke's Barber Shop, of Valdosta, Saturday night, 82 to 77. Homer Shellnut, of Madison, however, was the high individual scorer of the game, with 34 counters.
In the consolation game, Valdosta National Guard defeated Jennings 59 to 57.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Scott announce the arrival of a son, Jeffrey Lester Scott, Feb. 3, in Rochester, N.Y. Mrs. Scott will be remembered as Miss Florence Pate, of Greenville, Fla. Mr. Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Scott, of Fairhaven, N.Y. Mrs. J. L. Pate has returned to Greenville after two weeks with her daughter and grandchild. She reports that they are doing nicely. This is Mr. and Mrs. Pates first grandchild.
County agent Judy Hamrick gave a report on this week's livestock show at the Rotary Club meeting Wednesday. The show has grown over the eight years that it has been operating until now, and it is one of the finest and largest in the state. The agent thanked all who helped in making this and the previous shows successful. The club elected three new directors for the next two years: Vernon Ragans, Carl Bevis and Rebert Andrews.

The young people of Cherry Lake First Baptist Church will go on a hayride Friday at 6:30 p.m., if weather permits. Rev. Earl Wise will be in charge and four trucks will be used for transportation. After the ride a weiner roast will be enjoyed.
