Wesley William "Bill" Roberts Jr., 84, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, in Madison, Fla. Bill was born on Dec. 27, 1935, in Worthington Springs, Fla. to Wesley William Roberts Sr. and Lois Farnell Green.
Bill honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Roberts was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Madison. Bill worked with the Madison County School System for 45 years and retired as the School System Superintendent in 2004 where he had worn many different hats. He was a very active member of the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. He enjoyed and was an avid reader in his spare time. He also liked going on long walks on the walking path.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Willian Roberts Sr. and Lois Farnell.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Roberts of 45 years; three children: one son, Kyle Roberts, of Tallahassee, Fla., one step-son: Tony Blanton, of Madison, Fla. and one step-daughter, Tammy McCoy (Chris), of Hahira, Ga.; Grandchildren: Toni, Patrick, Brigette, Kaylin and Rhett; three great-grandchildren: Olivia, Rowen and Lyla; two brothers: Dennis Roberts, of Lake City, Fla.; and Eddie Roberts, of Palatka, Fla. as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Madison with Gabe Krell officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in San Pedro Cemetery. The family received friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at First Baptist Church of Madison.
All arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee, Fla.
