Everyone knows the saying “Beef, it's what's for dinner,” but have you ever been curious about the industry behind it all? There is so much to learn about the cattle industry, and an even better part? There's a cattle industry group for women! The Big Bend Cattle Women are here and they are looking to educate the community and promote the cattle industry.
The founders of the group consists of six women, who, after attending a few Cattleman's ranch tours, decided that they wanted to create their own group. Jamie McHargue, Emily Beaty, Lauren Churchwell, Paige Peavy, Miranda Brown and Celina Moncrief worked hard and diligently to get their group up and running. They invite all with an interest in the cattle industry to join.
The Big Bend Cattle Women will hold quarterly meetings that are still to be determined. However, in between each of these meetings, they will host fundraisers and events. They are currently working on a paint party fundraiser that will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., located at 258 NW Orange Ave., in Madison. The deadline to sign up for this event is Friday, Oct. 15.
