William "Billy" Charles Richardson, age 76, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at his home.
The service for Billy was held on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 with a viewing from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home Madison Chapel. The burial was held at Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Cemetery following the service.
Billy was born on Sept. 4, 1944 in Madison, Fla. to Ira Lee Richardson Sr. and Avis Marie (Milford) Richardson Day. Billy lived in Madison until 1957 when his Mother relocated him to Jacksonville, Fla. He attended public school in Duval County. He was a star football player at Terry Parker High School from which he graduated in 1964. Billy worked as a heavy equipment operator in commercial construction until he moved home to Madison in 1968. Once relocated back to Madison he started farming with his cousin, Coleman Richardson. In the early 70's he started farming on his Granddad's farm that had 200 acres of land. After retiring from farming, he went to work with the Florida Department of Corrections, after 17 dedicated years he retired as the K9 Sergeant from Madison Correctional Institution.
Billy was an avid Florida State Seminoles fan and loved to hunt hogs with his buddies in the Bay. Billy was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Lee, Fla. Billy married Susan Richardson on Dec. 28, 2005, and they were married for 15 years and together for 28 years.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Richardson; three sons: Sean Alderman (Michelle), Todd and Rodney Richardson; his daughter, Lori Burdette (Jeffrey Sr.); his brother, Ray Day; eight grandchildren: Kaeli Burdette, Christian (Kit) Burdette, Eryn Alderman, Jett Burdette, Camryn Alderman, Jeffrey Burdette Jr., Haleigh (Maryn) Bush and Joshua Richardson; four great-grandchildren: Michael Murkens III, Nolan Burdette, Adalay Murkens and Truett Beaver; several nephews and nieces; and many, many friends. He was proceeded in death by his father, Ira Lee Richardson Sr.; his mother, Avis Marie Milford Richardson Day; and brother, Ira Lee Richardson Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice or a charity of your choice. Due to COVID all in attendance should wear masks and social distance when possible.
