William Elbert Buchanan, Jr., 82, passed away on May 26, at his residence in Day, Fl.
Buchanan was born on November 7, 1933 in Perry, Fl., to William Elbert Buchanan, Sr. and Lillian Ora Lee Snipes.
Buchanan was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Brewer Lake Baptist Church. He worked with the Department of Transportation as an assistant maintenance engineer after 42 years of service. He was the owner/operator of Day Farm Equipment and he loved fishing as well as gardening. He was the long time treasurer of Day Masonic Lodge #166.
Buchanan was preceded in death by his parents, William Elbert Buchanan, Sr., and Lillian Ora Lee Snipes.
Buchanan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mozeta Buchanan; of Day, Fl.; four sons: Jimmy Buchanan (and wife Lynn), of Lake City, Fl., John Buchanan, of Lake City, Fl., Williams "Winky" Buchanan, of Day, Fl. and Wally Christie (and wife Tori), of Hahira, Ga.; two daughters: Lyn (and husband Jimmy) Irving, of Day, Fl. and Sherri (and husband Roger) Felkel, of Valdosta, Ga.; three brothers: James (and wife Ginny) Buchanan, of Orlando, Fl., J. W. (and wife Betty) Buchanan of Jacksonville, Fl. and Marvin (and wife Peggy) Buchanan, of Day, Fl.; one sister: Betty (and husband Gene) Wilson, of Orlando, Fl.; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 29, at 3 p.m., at Brewer Lake Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Bradow officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Day Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2 p.m. through 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, at Brewer Lake Baptist Church. All arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
