William Johnson Bibb, M.D., 83, died Thursday, January 29, in Tallahassee. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 1, at the First United Methodist Church, Madison, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International, or to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 294, Madison, Florida 32341, or to Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, Madison Youth Ranch, 51 Children’s Way, Enterprise, Florida 32725. He was born and raised in Springfield, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and then went to medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was a flight surgeon. After completing his residency in Pensacola, Florida, he moved to Madison, in 1962. He maintained his medical practice in Madison for 52 years, seeing his last patient in October 2014. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Madison, and a member of Gideons International. He is survived by his wife, Judy Bibb, of Madison; two daughters: Kathryn Hart and husband Steve and Ruth Ann Latner and husband Bart, all of Madison; one son, Brian Bibb and his wife Kim, of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and his grandchildren: Jake Latner, Ellie Latner, Will Latner, Ashley Cantey, Caleb Hart, Josh Hart and Ford Bibb.
