Willie Dozier Cody, Jr., 87, of Madison, Fla., answered the Master’s call on Friday, March 19, 2021, and relocated to his heavenly home over in Zion, where he can serve Him forever.
On Thursday, March 25, 2021, a public viewing and visitation, with COVID-19 restrictions, will begin at 10 a.m., one hour prior to graveside life services at 11 a.m., on the lawn of Oakridge No.1 Cemetery, in Madison.
He was born to Willie Mae Tice Cody and Willie Dozier Cody, Sr., on Dec. 11, 1933. Willie received his education from the Madison County School System and graduated in the Class of 1953 from Madison County Training School. Because career opportunities for him were limited, he opted to enlist in the United States Army later that year. He was honorably discharged after serving two years of active duty.
Willie relocated to Toledo, Ohio and enrolled in Davis Business College before he began his career as a civil servant. He worked more than 30 years for the United States Postal Service, until he retired and returned to his hometown.
Fulfilling his promise to serve the Lord with gladness, Willie joined Genesis Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Trustee Board.
Among his many pastime enjoyments were bowling, basketball, billiards and spending time with his McDonald’s friends.
Cherishing his forever memory are his loving brother, Freddy Cody; his devoted special friend, Deloris M. Jones; his extended Jones family; his McDonald’s friends, and a host of other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you consider making a memorial donation to Genesis Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1163, Madison, Fla. 32341.
Final care and compassionate services are being provided to the Cody Family, with love, care and uncompromising dignity, by the Hall-Moore Funeral Directors at Tillman Funeral Home of Madison (850) 973-6677, Jamarien "JP" Moore, Owner/Mortician.
