On Sunday, Oct. 24, clients, staff and invited guests enjoyed hearing from Willie Robertson during the Sunday morning service at Honey Lake Church. Robertson is best known as one of the stars of A&E's Duck Dynasty. He had a busy weekend at Honey Lake, spending time with clients, preaching and baptizing many after the morning service.
Robertson's sermon was appropriately nature-themed, contrasting a deer's pursuit of water with a Christian's pursuit of God. “Animals can store food, but they can't store water,” said Robertson. “They have to find it. It's a constant pursuit. We can't store up God, either. We must stay thirsty for Him.” Robertson went on to stress the need for taking action and being productive in God's kingdom. One of his stories was about a hunting trip he took several years ago. He felt impressed to share the gospel with his guide while they were driving to their destination. After sharing with him, the guide became excited about being baptized immediately after accepting Christ. The only available location was a shallow mud hole frequented by cattle. The guide was happy to confirm his new faith in the murky waters. As they were leaving, Robertson noticed a tear in the eye of his camera man. “I shared the gospel with him as well, but he opted to be baptized in cleaner waters,” said Robertson.
After the sermon, a large number of visitors desired to be baptized. Robertson and Honey Lake Clinic co-founder, Pastor Stovall Weems, were happy to oblige their requests. Many were visibly moved by the experience, and some shared testimonies of what God was doing in their life.
The day was far from over after the baptisms. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served for lunch and there were plenty of games and bounce houses set up for the kids to enjoy, including a large Jenga puzzle that stood ready for steady hands to conquer.
