Mrs. McManus passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, from natural causes. She was born on June 18, 1932. She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Billy W. McManus; son, William B. Williams, Jr.; granddaughter, Shannon Williams; parents, Cary and Fannie Lamb; sister, Shirley Purvis; and brother, Cary Lamb, Jr. She is survived by her three daughters: Rebecca Williams Cherry (Bill), of Ocala, Vicki McManus Cooper (James), of Tallahassee and Sherry McManus Green (Larry), of Shell Point Beach; a granddaughter, Kimberly Williams Watson; and grandsons: Brice Cherry, of Ocala, Blake Cherry, of Gainesville and Creighton T. Green (Kellie), of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McManus was an avid gardener and completed her own yard work until she was 88. She could usually be found working in the yard, raking leaves, gathering limbs after a storm and mowing grass. Mrs. McManus was an excellent quilter and won awards at the North Florida Fair for several of her quilts. She completed over 100 quilts in her lifetime, which she gave to family and friends. Mrs. McManus was a master crochet artist. Her creations ranged from doilies to baby afghans, baby booties, Cross Bible bookmarks and “scrubbies.” Later in life, she became proficient at crocheting names and gave them to family and friends for weddings and other special occasions. Over 200 families were given one of these creations.
Funeral services will be held at Gold Ridge Baptist Church, in Graham, Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at 11 a.m. CST, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m, CST. A memorial service will be held at United Eastside Church in Tallahassee on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at 11 a.m.
