The Hands and Hearts For Horses facility, in Thomasville, Ga., is competing with other like facilities around the country to win a Gypsy Vanner horse. These horses make incredible therapy partners.
Kathleen Hartsfield, a resident of Jefferson County, is a regular rider who participates in the Therapeutic Riding Program at The Hands and Hearts For Horses facility. Kathleen has participated in several therapy programs throughout the years, since her accident and traumatic brain injury when she was just 18 years old. She explains that this riding program is by far her favorite, and she looks forward to her trips to Thomasville to ride the horses. She has been participating in equine therapy for about a year now and is being physically, mentally, and socially helped more than ever imagined.

Many of the horses at Hands and Hearts For Horses are reaching retirement age, so a young horse would be a tremendous help.

“We know that a small community can win because the facility in Hahira, Ga. won a horse last year,” explains Mary Hartsfield, Kathleen's mother. “Thank you, thank you for any vote that you place. I cannot express strongly enough how this horse will help our facility provide services to those in need.”
