The Madison Woman's Club presented care packages to local first responders and emergency personnel on Monday, Feb. 13. Carol Gibson, who was chairman of the project, stated that the packages, containing chocolates, snacks, and other goodies, were delivered to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the Madison Police Department, the Madison Fire Department, the Madison EMS and the dispatch office.
“We really just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our first responders,” said Gibson.
All of the Woman's Club members donated items to the gift boxes, which were, in a nod to Valentine's Day, decorated with red and pink hearts.
Betty Williams, the club's President, stated that the Madison Woman's Club is a philanthropic group that promotes many community projects, and has been doing so since 1911. Members are currently selling raffle tickets for a golf cart giveaway to raise money for their scholarship program, which benefits students attending North Florida Community College. Tickets are $25 each, or five for $100. The winner will be announced at Down Home Days on Saturday, Apr. 22. You do not have to be present to win.
The Madison Woman's Club meets on the second Thursday of the month at 11:45 a.m. at the Woman's Club building on Lake Shore Drive in Madison. Anyone interested in joining the club should attend a monthly meeting.
