Uplifting. Upbeat. Real. These are the promises of the radio station 88.1 WAY-FM. The Christian radio station is a favorite among believers, bringing good Christian music and podcasts to the radio.
WAY-FM was started in 1986 by Bob and Felice Augsburg who decided that young Christians needed more to listen to than just the Whitney Houston and Prince songs that were popular at the time. So they created their first show, Lifeline, as a way to introduce more contemporary Christian music to listeners. Lifeline was a five-hour show that only aired on Saturday nights in Fort Myers, Fla. But, the show was a major success, leaving viewers wanting more than just a couple of hours on the weekend. So the couple decided to create their own station, giving us what we now know as WAY-FM.
The station has many popular shows, including The Wally Show, CJ and Joy, and The Brant Hansen Show. These and many others bring the gospel to listeners' morning drives to school or work and evening drives home. Whether it be through taste testing new Girl Scout cookies, goofy photo contests or interviews with popular singers, show hosts always find a way to bring joy to those who choose to listen.
WAY-FM also hosts the "World's Biggest Small Group." With over 63,000 listeners, this small group is an easy way to stay connected in the word of God. Participants get to choose a series topic they can most relate to and are emailed inspiring stories of Christian artists and influencers by the WAY-FM team. Small group topics can range from series on how to deal with fear and anxiety, how to trust God even in the midst of trials; or even just reading through the Bible. Each study can last anywhere from 15 days to a whole month, with stories only taking about five minutes to read.
Do you want to be uplifted throughout the day with positive music, stories and more? If you’re in the car, tune the radio to 88.1, or download the WAY-FM app on your phone and listen to this empowering radio station wherever you go.
