On Monday, July 10, a group of 11 youth left New Testament Christian Center around lunch time and traveled to Pensacola, Fl. in order to attend the Branded by Fire Youth Conference at Brownsville Assembly of God.
Justin and Rebecca Riegsecker, youth pastors at the church, Allen and Julie Cochran, and Sharon McClune (along with her younger daughter, Kaylee) accompanied the group.
The youth who attended were: A.J. Doyle, Kaitlyn Kinsey, Will Ellison, Leanna Kinsey, Kristen McClune, Dalton Cochran, Matthew Reader, Gabe Pitts, Savanna Pitts, Jonathan Kinsey and Hayley Trent.
The conference kicked off with a meeting Monday night. From Tuesday through Thursday, there were morning and evening meetings. Some of the speakers the group heard were: Pat Schatzline, Jordan Morris, Kelsey Hill Morris, Ryan English, Micah Berteau, and Pastor Evon Horton from Brownsville Assembly.
The entire group shared how they were all impacted by God’s presence. It was a refreshing touch for all of those who attended.
At one of the meetings, the speaker was talking about how lives are changed when people go to the altar. It’s at the altar where God meets individuals and changes their lives. The altar is not only a physical place,; it’s a place anywhere a person humbles himself and asks God to touch him and bring change. The more a person goes to the altar, the more God is able to bring change into a life.
On Tuesday, the group spent the afternoon at Perdido Key Beach. They enjoyed having fun swimming and spending time together.
On Wednesday afternoon, they stayed at the hotel, relaxed and went swimming before the evening meeting.
Thursday afternoon, gave them the opportunity to tour the Naval Museum in Pensacola where they enjoyed seeing all the planes. They even tried some of the flight simulators which made a few of the participants a little nauseous.
“We look forward to attending next year already,” said Pastor Riegsecker.
